Langley Snail is worried about Father's Day. He is not crafty, so his homemade presents always bomb. He has some money to spend, but his snail's pace gets him to the store after it closes. Besides, his friends have already snapped up the neat gifts, like the "Super-Duper-Golf-O-Matic-Home-Ball-Washer." Tomorrow is Sunday, and Langley's got nothin'. But as he walks dejectedly home, he finds a perfectly round, lilac-colored stone. Then he spies three baby birds in their nest. A lightbulb goes off: Langley leaves a note for his father requesting his presence on a nature walk. Together, the two explore the woods, and Mr. Snail says their walk is the best present ever--and Langley agrees Little Cottontail worries that his grandfather, who now lives on the other side of the Great Green Meadow, misses him too much. After his mother says that Grandfather always loved Cottontails snuggly hugs, the rabbit gets an idea: he will send his hugs to his grandfather via the wind. In the same way, he uses the clouds to send a smile and the river to send a joke. When the bunny hears the trees singing and sees the stars twinkling, he decides that they are songs and winks coming from his grandfather. Mother and child blow kisses to the Moon to blow to Grandfather, and they fall asleep.

Mora tells of a Mexican American immigrant child who feels caught between her Spanish home and the English world outside. At home she's Estelita. At school she's Stella.when she goes to the May parade at school in a tulip costume of many colors, she worries that she looks different from everyone else, only to realize that it's fine to be different. Katarina really like this book.

this book shows some of the ways and places this little girl and her brother enjoy Bouncing : on beds, cushions, Grandpa's lap, even the couch "when Mom isn't looking." The second book presents the idea of giving in an understandable and delightful way. A fun book.

It all begins innocently enough, when Violet the dog drops a fuzzy green tennis ball down a prairie-dog hole on the title page. When it finally lands deep in the underground tunnels, dozens of little dogs are gazing at it with trepidation. The biggest prairie dog ,the bully Big Bark, comes to take a look, but before he can get close enough, Pip Squeak runs up to the ball and exclaims, ˜It's fuzzy!'˜Oooooooh!' gasped the other dogs. Soon, they all begin adorning themselves with pieces of lime-green fuzz, ignoring Big Bark's commands that they stop this foolishness. Prairie dogs come from all over to help themselves until the ball is plucked bare. War breaks out, leaving Pip Squeak feeling rather guilty for starting it all. While the embattled dogs collapse in exhaustion, Big Bark steals all of the fuzz, proclaiming himself king of the fuzz, which makes him an easy target for an eagle, who swoops down and grabs him. Pip Squeak rallies the others to come to Big Bark's aid.

love love loved this book! Colin is some swell shoemaker. In fact, people say there's magic in his cobbling, but Colin just laughs at that. Then one night Death arrives to claim his soul. It looks like curtains for the cobbler until he notices that Death is barefoot. Thinking fast and talking faster, he persuades the Grim Reaper that he needs soles, not souls, and pledges to make him a pair of sandals to go with his robe. They'll be ready in a month, Colin promises, showing a thoroughly bemused Death the door, and it goes on and on!

This is the book we read for this week- Turtle Tide The Ways of Sea Turtles by Stephen R. Swinburne. We really liked it but Katarina said it would be really sad to be a sea turtle. this is the craft we made. we unfortunatly didnt have time for a snack

Discovering life

Katarina touching the sea anemone and feeling its poison, she told us it felt sticky, which it does.I touched it accidentally last time we were there. Your not supposed to touch that part. So she knows for next time.....

Every starfish she saw Katarina would ask is this one alive?Is this one alive? And we would tell her the same answer, yes sweetie this one is alive, all of these starfish are alive. So I really think she learned alot, all the way home she was asking questions about them.

Some great books

Some great books

this was a funny book about a family of bunnies who need a nice warm home for the winter.they keep finding funny little ways to get into this old mans house then he nails it shut until he finds he can't get out,but it has a funny ending.We have a bunny and the girls both really naturally loved this book

Caps for sale: a great book! This was the first time that I had read this to the girls and they loved it and we all would shout and stomp our feet saying CAPS! CAPS! CAPS FOR SALE! We had a great time with this book and will be reading Circus Caps for sale next.

A very funny book about some creative farm animals who are tired of eating animal farm food.They decide they want some salsa so they go into the garden and get their ingredients, this book has a rooster who can read and an animal fiesta that gets cancelled....but what do they do instead?

WOW! we loved this book!It was wonderful. A little boy finds a salamander and wants to keep him....but his mommy asks him all these questions on how he will take care of him. So he every answer he gives her his room becomes more and more like a salamander habitat would naturally be.Trees to climb on bugs to eat, rocks to sleep on.....

A cute twist on the regular gingerbread boy!Giddyup giddyup I'm the gingerbread cowboy you cant catch me!!!

A wonderful story about how most people don't like spiders. So this sweet spider is ready to give up on her life,but finally finds someone who doesn't think she is ugly or screams when they look at her. She chooses to live out the rest of her days with her.The woman is getting ready to have a baby but doesn't have a good blanket so Sophie begins her masterpiece......

Very cute story about a little girl named Calpurnia.She has a mess of blocks in her room.Her mom wants her to clean it up.She tells her mom she can't, because what her mom doesn't know is that mess is not just a mess it is a block mess monster! Very cute!

Wonderful story about how wonderful it is to have trees around, to sit under. To gaze at, to have for shelter, to have in our world.

My little guy is growing so much.He is two months old now, and weighs 10 pounds 13 ounces. He is 22 inches long.I cant believe he has grown 6 whole inches since birth!
